Welcome to Cade’s Journey. I am Lynnette, mother to the son known as Cade. Cade was recently diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. At that moment our lives were altered forever. With a lot of hope and prayers we have now embarked on this journey.
At first, we were so overwhelmed, anything beyond the task in front of us, was more than we could handle. We didn’t want to talk about it. We didn’t want to join others with the same diagnosis. We didn’t want IT!! We just wanted to ignore it and have it gradually fade away, never to be heard from again.
But, you know how the Lord works in ways far beyond what we can comprehend? He began working on me to acknowledge this diagnosis and face it head on. So we began to very carefully crack open the door. And then God decided to make me a writer! Ha!
My least thought about career choice as I didn’t even like writing. Never once have I ever had the dream to write. So I did what any normal person would do and fought. Fought every feeling and urging that ever came about writing.
But, then the idea kept surfacing frequently and I stopped and listened. I listened to god telling me how I could help others. And then I could fight it no longer. So I did some research on blogging and here we go! Better buckle up!
I want this blog to convey our story. Show our triumphs and our struggles with muscular dystrophy. But I also want it to show our life and how we are adapting our life to meet the needs of our son.
I hope to give you a glimpse into our crazy life. I also pray that we raise awareness for this disease, especially for rural communities. This road is going to be bumpy, especially at first while I learn this new craft. But I truly do pray that you join me on it and help me find the smoother road.
Blessings. Lynnette
