Birthday Week

This is Cade’s birthday week. He will officially hit double digits on Wednesday. I have tried thinking back to the worries we had a year ago.

Last year at this time, I was worried that the weather wouldn’t hold up for his friend party. I was worried that his friends would get lost on the way to our house.

These all seem minor compared to our worries now. We still had concerns about Cade’s coordination and weakness but on a different level. One year ago I still didn’t really know what Muscular Dystrophy even was.

Now we are here for his birthday which is his entry into double digits. And I am looking at his birthday with a different perspective. And I am so glad we have family and friends that came and helped us celebrate Cade yesterday.

The weather was good and so Cade could be outside for part of the day. We had supper and he got some really fun presents. And I was able to look at my almost 10 year old and smile.

He has done so well since his diagnosis. Everything that we have asked him to do medically he is willing. He went from only taking a vitamin daily to now including some extra medicines and he takes them every night when asked.

I know we have it easier than some with the medications he has to take so far and so for that I am thankful too.

But mostly I am thankful that the Lord entrusted Brent and I with caring for this very special boy. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for Cade for the years to come.

Blessings. Lynnette
