I set out this month trying to organize a few schools to participate in our version of Coach to Cure MD. I am excited to say that I have 3 other schools willing to participate!
Coach to Cure MD occurs every year on the last Saturday in September with participating colleges. The coaching staff all were logos on their clothing, usually on the sweatshirt or top that they are wearing. We have been fortunate enough to have been a part of one of the years that the Huskers participated. The other important part of this day is fundraising.
If you want to help out and participate in Coach to Cure MD, there are a few ways to help. The first is if you are at either the Sidney/Gothenburg game or the Broken Bow/Cozad game, watch for the wristbands on the coaches and maybe take some pictures and share them with me and others. You can use the hashtag #TackleDuchenne.
Another way to help is if you will be at a high school football game on Friday, September 27, wear green! Then you can also take pictures and share them with the same hashtag. I will try to also share the pictures that I am tagged in or that are shared with me so we can help spread awareness for these young men battling this awful disease.
The last way to help out is on Saturday, September 28, if you are watching college football, look out for any participating schools. And if you feel so inclined, please text “Cure” to 501501 to donate. Also if you are on Facebook, Coach to Cure MD has a page with even more ways for you to join to help us #TackleDuchenne.
It is because of this awareness and fundraising ability that we may be eligible to place Cade on a medication that will help slow the progression of Duchenne. While it’s not yet a cure, it is huge steps forward in fighting this disease when just 25 years ago families were given no hope or treatment options!
And thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining us on this journey. God bless you all and we continually pray for all those that follow us along.
Blessings. Lynnette
