First Day of School

I think every year time seems to speed up just a little bit. Not so much as to make you notice when they are young and you are doing all the things for them. But more noticeable as they get older and are more independent. Somehow we have managed to navigate this life to get Cade off to his first day as a junior in high school!

Time is funny. When the boys were little I would imagine what our life would look like when they got older and what things they would enjoy. But not once during those times did I imagine adding a complex medical diagnosis to our lives. Yet here we are. And I would say that we are not just surviving but actually thriving with Duchenne in our lives.

Cade is looking forward to being student manager for the football team again this year. And be ready boys because he has high expectations for your record! I love that the team just takes him in. Because that boy sure does love his football and stats and someone else other than me needs to appreciate it!

The team took pictures yesterday to make another team banner like last year. And Cade is so lucky that they include him in it. He loves getting to wear a jersey. His heart is out on the field with those boys. Watch for him “pacing” the sidelines this fall just like a coach would.

I am still working at revamping our website to include more things besides longer posts. I think I have added a page for recipes that Cade likes and will be hopefully adding more of his favorite recipes soon. I am starting to try to figure out how to add more pages to our site so hopefully you can get a better glimpse of our everyday life.

Well I need to be starting my baking for farmers market tomorrow instead of sitting here enjoying the quiet……..but maybe a couple more minutes wouldn’t be so bad!

Blessings. Lynnette

  1. Hi Lynnette,

I’ve been following your blog for a while and am happy to read about Cade’s updates!

I don’t think I’ve shared this but I have a newsletter where I write about resilience strategies that have helped me on my muscular dystrophy journey (I have limb-girdle muscular dystrophy). It’s called Hello, Adversity ( helloadversity.substack.com). I wanted to share it in case it might be of interest to you and your family.

    Best regards, Chris
