We have survived back to school and are starting to get into a good routine. And with back to school time comes football season and Cade has been in football heaven these last few days.

The Swedes were supposed to open their season on Thursday which had meant I would not be able to go to the game. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, the game was moved to Friday and both Brent and I could make the journey. Cade was so excited for the game. And even better was that we capped the opener with a Swedes victory!

The Huskers opened their season on Saturday so it was 3 days full of football with there being college games on Thursday too. The Huskers came away with a victory too!
But now that the opening games have been held I am shifting my focus a bit here. September is Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month. Last year I was able to have a small plan that turned into a bigger deal than I anticipated and now I want to keep that momentum rolling.
The last Saturday in September is Coach to Cure day in college football. It is because of things like these that we may be able to start Cade on some medication that will help slow the progression of DMD! We have such hope for more and better treatment options along with the possibility of a cure. So last year I asked our coaching staff to wear lime green wristbands and the players were given ribbon stickers to put on their helmets. We made a plan for the last Friday in September, however that game was not a home game for the Swedes. It was at our closest rival town of Cozad.
While I’m not quite sure how word got back to Cozad about this, they showed great class when they participated in our maiden voyage of High School Coach to Cure. They made a flag that led the team onto the field and presented it to Cade. Which to me thinking “why can’t we offer more schools to participate in this too?” So now this year I am emailing a few of our local schools and asking any of our readers if they want to participate in High School Coach to Cure. The supplies were all bought on Amazon and I would be happy to provide links or even possibly mail the items to that school.

Cade has muscle clinic on the day of the Coach to Cure High School game and so we will be coming straight back to get him to be at the game. Thankfully it is a home game this year!
Happy Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month!
Blessings. Lynnette

Well, the tears started again. I was so impressed by the Cozad schools participating and going beyond anything we thought would happen. There are good things happening in our schools!
