I just realized how long it has been since my last post! We are still going strong but busy. We are getting all things ready for summer here. We have planted seeds, prepared raised beds, tilled the garden, and have the chicks growing nicely.
Seed starting is something new we took on this year. We have started flowers, vegetables and herbs.
We have been excited to see many of the seeds come up. We have even managed to get a few of the cooler season varieties planted in the raised beds.
I am wondering though when your classification changes from gardener to a farmer. We more than doubled the size of our ground garden and we have added more fruit bushes too! Cade and I both are very excited to get our little plants going.
Then today was the field trip to Halsey National Forest. I have been a little nervous about how we could make it all work. Brent asked me what the problem was because Cade had his scooter. I told him that scooters do NOT go through sand and will NOT climb stairs.
But even with all those concerns I had, I could not have been prouder of Cade’s attitude towards trying everything. He was eager to give everything his best attempt without any need of reassurance from me.
I also cannot commend his teachers, the bus drivers and his classmates enough for the way they were with him today. He got to see the nursery and climb the watch tower first. One of the other parents helped me carry Cade up the stairs of the watch tower. We only made it part way up but he was thrilled.
Then we moved onto the zip line. He got to go first and absolutely loved it. They have nice steps with a platform for me to get him up so that part wasn’t too difficult.
Then it was lunch followed by canoeing. Cade had a blast getting to go out with 2 of his good friends.
Then the last thing on the schedule was the high wire. I was not sure he would want to try. You have to climb a pole to get up there. It had already been a long day and I knew that he wasn’t able to climb on his own. I told him I would do my best to get him up there. I wasn’t able to get him to the top but he did get up high enough to hang out in the air for a bit. Look at that smile that he had!
He had a really amazing time! I was so glad. He talked about it excitedly when we got home. I’m glad I was able to do that for him.
More big events are happening this weekend so stay tuned and hopefully I’ll get another post done soon.
Blessings. Lynnette
