In three days our family travelled 906 miles! All of the car time has been worth it for the adventures we are taking though.

It started off on Saturday with Coach to Cure MD. We were invited to be guests of Nebraska football for the game. The University really knew how to make these kids feel special. They had four families there to participate and put us in a balcony suite so there was plenty of room for all the boys’ chairs and scooters. Each boy was given a program and an autographed picture of Scott Frost! Then they had a few other special guests stop by to meet all the boys! They did it perfectly!

Because of the next adventure awaiting us, we drove down to Lincoln on Saturday afternoon and drove back home following the game. We pulled into the driveway a little after 1 Sunday morning, threw everyone in their beds and dealt with the aftermath when we got up. We had planned ahead though and packed up everything we could before we left for the game on Saturday.

We slept in a little and then finished loading up the vehicle and headed out southwest! Our first stop would be in Colorado Springs to have a little visit with Kevin and Kim and sleep over to break up the trip! Then Monday morning, we woke up and finished the last little jaunt to Costilla, New Mexico.

We arrived at Northern Extreme Adventure and settled in to wait out the wind so we could practice shooting a bit. The wind never really went down enough to shoot but we practiced with the chair and went spotting elk. We watched a herd come down from the mountains and settle in the hay field about 50 yards from the blind that Cade would be hunting from! This herd had 2 really big bull elks and then Cade couldn’t get back to the lodge fast enough. It will probably be the only time he ever asks me if he can go to bed!

We set the alarm for 4:30 in the morning and worked really hard at getting Cade to be able to settle down to go to sleep. Once he relaxed he was asleep in no time. They are out hunting now and I can’t wait to hear all the stories when they return!
