March Clinic and Snowstorm

I have always known that our March clinic visits could get interesting with the weather. So far in this journey, we have been extremely fortunate with the weather cooperating while we have had to be at clinic. This time we weren’t quite as fortunate. The snowstorm was moving in!

We knew we would be clear for our travel day heading to Denver. Our biggest concern was for getting to Friday’s appointments and getting home. We were so lucky that our hotel stay could be extended by one day in the same room! We were even more blessed when we awoke on Friday morning and had no issues getting to the hospital and we were even able to go ahead and check out of the hotel so we could head home like we had originally planned!

Look at all that snow that accumulated on the van!

Thursday was Cade’s birthday!! He is 16 now and we were hoping to have a fun supper for him with my aunt and cousin joining us. The weather didn’t cooperate for that but we still got to take Cade out to one of his favorite places to eat. The shopping and any other activities that day were not completed though. He still got to enjoy watching basketball on tv though. And we were thankful that we always get a 2 room suite since we spent most of the day on Thursday in the hotel!

Appointments on Friday went great. Everything looked stable for him. We are starting the process of getting a cough assist machine but that is more to do with living in a rural area with not a lot of immediate access to medical equipment we may need. We will start some trials with it so we can be familiar with it before he truly needs it. It’s always great to take such a proactive approach! It eases the panic when the time comes that we may need it.

Cardiology appointment was the one bit of news that we weren’t expecting. His cardiac MRI that we had done the week prior showed some decline in function. This could be for a variety of reasons and has several factors to consider. His last MRI was 4 years ago too. It wasn’t alarmingly different, but definitely something that needs some further follow up and investigation. We are changing some dosage amounts on his medicine and have to go back in 6 months to recheck and make sure everything has leveled back out. If it levels back out we will go back to only yearly cardiology visits. That is our prayer.

We had to take some time to process all of that before updating. Between that and all the senior year stuff with Cole we have been running around without much stopping. We made it home Friday evening about 6:30 only to get up and leave at 6:30 in the morning for trap shooting at Doniphan. The days are long but the years sure go by fast. Even when Brent and I are most annoyed with either the boys or things going on, we know we are abundantly blessed. And one of our many blessings is all of you who join us in this journey and pray along side of us!
